Carolyn Finn opened the doors to Finishing Touches in 1995, her first store in Lake Forest, Illinois. The design studio and home furnishings boutique became an instant success and was the retail destination for clients interested in fabulous interior design resources, exceptional service and a friendly atmosphere where the process of interior decorating was demystified. In 2009, Carolyn decided to “scale down” and start a new chapter in her life. She closed the retail store, but continues to work with her many clients through her new company: Carolyn Finn Interiors – now housed in a cozy design studio.
Carolyn’s timeless interiors reflect her skills at blending a client’s needs with the principles of good architecture and interior decoration. Her signature approach to every space is to blend maximum comfort with a style she calls “updated traditional” – fresh and youthful without being trendy. She holds fast to her belief that a home should have three elements: beauty, practicality and comfort. It has to have great personality and “live well” at the same time.
Carolyn is a graduate of Northwestern University and long-time resident of the Midwest. She is known for her excellent taste, stylish interiors and her easy going approach to her clients. Her business acumen and work ethic help her to successfully complete all projects on time and professionally. The majority of Carolyn’s clients live in Chicago and its North Shore, as well as second home locations in Mexico, Arizona and Florida.
